History[ edit ] The Maasai speak a Nilo-Saharan language. Many ethnic groups that had already formed settlements in the region were forcibly displaced by the incoming Maasai,  while other, mainly Southern Cushitic groups, were assimilated into Maasai society. Let us examine a few of these definitions, some of which do not precisely define the African personality but merely seek to describe and explain the personality and cultural uniqueness of Africans.
